چکیده

Picornaviruses are a diverse family of small, RNA viruses which include several pathogens of man and animals. They are divided, on the basis of physicochemical properties such as acid stability and buoyant density, into four main genera: enteroviruses, rhinoviruses, cardioviruses and aphthoviruses. The enteroviruses are the most important in terms of human pathogenicity and include the polioviruses, coxsackieviruses and Echoviruses, together with enterovirus types 68 to 72. There are also several bovine and porcine serotypes. Rhinoviruses include 100 human serotypes (the major cause of the common cold) and two bovine serotypes. The cardioviruses, the best studied being encephalomyocarditis virus (EMCV), all belong to one serotype and are generally considered to be murine viruses• The seven serotypes of foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) constitute the aphthoviruses. Altogether there are over 230 serotypes and their medical and economic importance have ensured that they have been the subject of a great deal of research (see the review by Rueckert, 1985)• Progress has been facilitated by the fact that the viruses contain a relatively small amount of genetic information and can thus be studied readily at the molecular level, if necessary by complete nucleotide sequence determination. The ability to crystallize picornaviruses and the application of X-ray crystallography to complete virus

Molecular detection of proteolytic activity of human parechovirus 2A protein by gene expression

Parechoviruses form one of the nine genera in the picornaviridae family, and include two human pathogens: Human parechovirus type1 and 2 (Hpev1 and Hpev2). The genome of picornaviruses encodes a single polyprotein, which undergoes a cleavage cascade performed by virus encoded proteases to give the final virus proteins. The primary cleavage occurs by 2A protein and this step is critical for vi...

The 2A proteins of three diverse picornaviruses are related to each other and to the H-rev107 family of proteins involved in the control of cell proliferation.

The 2A protein appears to be diverse among picornaviruses, in contrast to the other non-structural proteins, which have homologous structures and functions. In enteroviruses and rhinoviruses, 2A is a trypsin-like protease involved in protein processing and in shut-off of host-cell macromolecular synthesis. The aphthovirus and cardiovirus 2A is associated with an unusual processing event at the ...

بررسی مولکولی فعالیت پروتئولیتیکی پروتئین 3C در پاراکو ویروس انسانی تیپ یک

Background & Aim: Human parechovirus is a genus of picornaviruses which includes a number of important viruses of clinical significance. Recent sequence analysis suggests that human parechovirus type 1(HPEV-1) is distinct from other picornaviruses and lacks the motives believed to be involved in the protease function of 2A. The aim of this study was to analyse proteolytic activity of 3C pro...

Evolution and phylogeographic dissemination of endemic porcine picornaviruses in Vietnam

Members of the Picornaviridae are important and often zoonotic viruses responsible for a variety of human and animal diseases. However, the evolution and spatial dissemination of different picornaviruses circulating in domestic animals are not well studied. We examined the rate of evolution and time of origin of porcine enterovirus G (EV-G) and porcine kobuvirus species C lineages (PKV-C) circu...

Structure of Ljungan virus provides insight into genome packaging of this picornavirus

Picornaviruses are responsible for a range of human and animal diseases, but how their RNA genome is packaged remains poorly understood. A particularly poorly studied group within this family are those that lack the internal coat protein, VP4. Here we report the atomic structure of one such virus, Ljungan virus, the type member of the genus Parechovirus B, which has been linked to diabetes and ...
